The Positive Presence Experience: Creating Change One Online Coaching Session at a Time

Early 2017, two years after the launch of Positive Presence, our Founder made a somewhat compulsive decision to switch from one-on-one in-person coaching to completely virtual one-on-one support. Michelle was led by her deep desire to proactively contribute to teenagers and young adults, not just in the suburbs of Denver, CO, but nationwide. What her local critics called a mistake, Michelle intuitively recognized the future positive impact of her decision.

Her online coaching platform took over a year to create and launched in early 2018 alongside her trademarked coaching certification program. Focusing on developing a client-led, relationship-based, comfortable, and confidential tele-coaching experience became Michelle’s number one priority. Coupled with 24/7 virtual support between the student and their coach via our free tele-coaching app – the Positive Presence Virtual Mentor Coaching experience launched nationwide with rave reviews.

Fast forward to March of 2020 when the world was crippled by the Coronavirus Pandemic. The upending felt sudden with walls rising across the world, entire societies quarantining, and billions of people realizing they had reached a dividing line: from life before coronavirus to after.

Everything from school to work to family gatherings was going virtual, and the need to help the next generation maintain positive mental health during these trying times was no longer a luxury, but an instant priority. With over two years of online coaching experience, Positive Presence was set up for success to support a sudden influx of virtual students nationwide.

Our virtual coaching, 24/7 support, coaching certification program, and resource library were immediately tested against insurmountable challenges nationwide. Every month from March 2020 to January 2021 – Positive Presence was doubling their new student count of each month prior. To support the unexpected growth, our team went from 3 coaches nationwide to 15 in less than a year, and we continue to grow at the same pace. With a 93% retention ratio this past year, our virtual coaching proved to be a viable, affordable, and convenient option for families nationwide. Today, Positive Presence stands as the top life coaching company for teens and young adults in North America, not just because of our top-notch coaching or the best-of-the-best coaches, but because of our ability to adapt to our country’s ever-changing climate.

While in-person life coaching may still be a positive option for some families, the reality is that we are transitioning to a virtual world where teens want instant 24/7 support at their fingertips telecommuting from their safe space at times that are convenient for them. That’s hard to find with in person support. Families who are looking for life coaching come to us wanting their teens or young adult to experience growth, to come up with solutions for their struggles, to help them become more future-focused or goal oriented, and to encourage them to feel safe to open up and practice vulnerability. With our virtual coaching, we guarantee success in all of those areas for an affordable price. For us, it’s not about whether we are in-person or connecting through a screen – what matters is the person-to person connection and we make that our priority ALWAYS.

Nearly a year after the coronavirus caused the world to shut down, we’re all still adjusting to this new norm and living our lives as best we can despite the pandemic. As we begin to experience safe in person connections amongst our local communities again, it’s important to not revert back to our old beliefs of ‘in person connection is best’, but rather continue to use the incredible online and virtual tools, resources, and companies that help the next generation expand beyond their comfort zone. Your loved one deserves a life coach that fits their personality, that accents the aspirations, and someone that focuses on their struggles NOT JUST someone who is local. Schedule a time HERE to meet with our connection specialist to learn more about our coaches, our virtual coaching, and Positive Presence in general.

Missy Vandenheuvel

Sales Manager

Missy is a revitalized mother of two teenagers who understands the resilience it takes to raise children in the midst of a global pandemic. She is a passionate mentor because she recognizes there isn’t nearly enough support for the overwhelming number of people silently struggling. Her sincere and compassionate personality is what makes her thrive as a coach and a leading member of our company. As our Sales manager she recognized that her role is to listen and learn as much about your child (or yourself) as possible. While listening, I am identifying a mentor coach that I believe your child will not only like based on their personality, but also one who has experienced and overcome similar pain points, and areas of opportunity, optimizing relatability. Ultimately, setting your child up for growth and fulfillment socially, mentally, and physically.

Favorite Mindfulness Techniques:

My Favorite Mindful technique is to Shifting Thought Patterns by focusing on the Grounding Technique. Starts with a big belly breath in. Then, you tap into your 5 senses, to quickly and effortlessly shift your current focus. Choose a sense- any sense, and count down from 5 (order or senses can be altered): 5 things you see, 4 things you smell, 3 things you feel, 2 things you hear, 1 thing you taste.

A Fun Fact:

I travel to Florida from Wisconsin 3-4 times a year, and we plan to relocate somewhere with the state in 1.5 years. I’ve been dreaming about this since I first saw the ocean at the age of 14 years old.
