About Our Certification

'Our objective in life is to help or be helped – as long as you are doing one of those two things, you will always be in a state of evolution.' ~ Michelle Marie King

The Highest Standard

Our coaches are exemplary! They are passionately motivated to change the lives of the people they coach and they are dedicated to that mission, but it takes months of preparation, research, background screenings and support for a positive person to become a Positive Presence Mentor-Coach.

All prospective Mentor-Coaches undergo a rigorous interview process which includes: two interviews, a national background screening, reference checks, and an online social media review and analysis to ensure their public persona fits our positive brand.

Since inception, only about 25% of the people we interview pass these standards and are approved by our corporate human resources team to begin training. Once an offer is extended to a prospective Mentor-Coach, they must first sign strictly enforced non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements to ensure the security and privacy of our clients and families. These agreements are extended to the coaches for a year at a time and are reviewed and renewed annually.

Our certification program is as meticulous as our interview process. Once our coaches are approved through our legal team, they begin a proprietary 30-day intensive to become a Certified Positive Presence Mentor-Coach. Through this one-on-one, hands-on experience, our coaches get an in-depth understanding of our S.E.L.F. Philosophy, our coaching P.I.L.L.A.R.S., our proprietary ‘Perspective Coaching Process’ & a clear understanding of how to support their mentees the Positive Presence way.

Our Certification Process

Through our certification program, our coaches are required to also put in a minimum of 10 hours of field training listening to online client-approved session recordings whilst attending live coaching sessions to observe our coaching standards.

To graduate from our program and become a Certified Positive Presence Mentor-Coach, all of our coaches must complete a certification exam which includes “what-if” scenarios extracted from actual coaching situations encountered by Positive Presence coaches. The intention of this exam is to ensure that our coaches can maintain integrity with our core-coaching principles, utilize our ‘Prospective Coaching Process’ and think on their feet to positively and proactively support each student in various situations.

Phase Two
Upon completion of Phase 1, each of our coaches are provided a non-paying scholarship recipient from our Foundation in order to gain valuable field experience. Over the next 30 days (Phase 2 of their certification process) they are required to put in a minimum of 5 hours of online training, specifically watching client-approved session recordings. Additionally, they must observe five 1-hour coaching sessions conducted by current coaches.
Phase Two: Mentor Shadowing
Phase Three: Scoring Perfect on The Exam
Phase Three
Phase 3 of our certification process requires scoring 100% on our certification exam. This 2-3 hour exam includes 50 "what-if" scenarios presented to each coach by a corporate trainer. Each scenario has been extracted from actual coaching situations encountered by Positive Presence coaches. The intention of this exam is to ensure that our coaches can maintain integrity with our core-coaching principles, utilize our ‘Prospective Coaching Process’ and think on their feet to positively and proactively support each student in various scenarios.
Phase Three: Scoring Perfect on The Exam
As you can imagine, this is NOT an easy process for our coaches or our corporate training team, but we understand the importance of the lives we impact and we take every precaution necessary to make sure our coaches are ready to inspire and support their mentees. The coaches that make it past these three phases become Positive Presence certified coaches and begin coaching company wide. Our coaches are exemplary! They are passionately motivated to change the lives of the people they coach and they are dedicated to that mission through and through.

Missy Vandenheuvel

Sales Manager

Bio:

Missy is a revitalized mother of two teenagers who understands the resilience it takes to raise children in the midst of a global pandemic. She is a passionate mentor because she recognizes there isn’t nearly enough support for the overwhelming number of people silently struggling. Her sincere and compassionate personality is what makes her thrive as a coach and a leading member of our company. As our Sales manager she recognized that her role is to listen and learn as much about your child (or yourself) as possible. While listening, I am identifying a mentor coach that I believe your child will not only like based on their personality, but also one who has experienced and overcome similar pain points, and areas of opportunity, optimizing relatability. Ultimately, setting your child up for growth and fulfillment socially, mentally, and physically.

Favorite Mindfulness Techniques:

My Favorite Mindful technique is to Shifting Thought Patterns by focusing on the Grounding Technique. Starts with a big belly breath in. Then, you tap into your 5 senses, to quickly and effortlessly shift your current focus. Choose a sense- any sense, and count down from 5 (order or senses can be altered): 5 things you see, 4 things you smell, 3 things you feel, 2 things you hear, 1 thing you taste.

A Fun Fact:

I travel to Florida from Wisconsin 3-4 times a year, and we plan to relocate somewhere with the state in 1.5 years. I’ve been dreaming about this since I first saw the ocean at the age of 14 years old.
