10 TRUE Reminders About Life

Life is not meant to be easy but there is a certain understanding about life that will help you along your journey.

Here are 10 TRUE reminders about life.

#1: You Will Receive a Body

I was one of those girls that hated looking in the mirror, because every time I would criticize almost everything I saw.  I’d long for smaller thighs, a flatter stomach, toned arms, a more defined jaw and so much more.  Around 33, I was able to finally look at my body as my vessel.  At that time, I acknowledged it as the container that supported all of me – my soul, my love, my touch, my strength, my wisdom.  Without it, I wouldn’t be here, and I wouldn’t be able to be ME.  Once I saw it in that light, I was able to look in the mirror with gratitude and appreciation.  Here’s the truth, your body will be YOURS for your entire life. Love it or hate it, you’re stuck with it. If you take care of it, it’ll take care of you. If you’re mean to it, put awful things into it or talk down to it, most likely you will struggle in that body. The choice is yours.  When you can look at your body with love and appreciation, it provides an unfathomable peace that takes some people a lifetime to find.

#2 & #3: There are NO Mistakes, Only Lessons & Lessons are Repeated Until they are Learned

Some of my grandest mistakes and biggest failures gave light to some of my most profound life lessons.  At the end of the day, WE ARE HUMAN!  A part of being human is making mistakes and proving ourselves wrong but know that those lessons are repeated until they are learned.  As long as you can always learn from your mistakes, you’ve benefited from having them.  Don’t discredit your teachers – those people or even things in your life that taught you something.  Our teachers can be a stranger, a plant, the weather, our worst enemy or our kids.  Be grateful for them; they’re all teaching us lessons.

#4: You Don’t Know What You Don’t Know

Keep learning and trying as many things as you can as often as possible.  Avoid becoming bored and stagnant.  Growth is a process of trial and error – experimentation.  The ‘failed’ experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiments that ultimately ‘work’.

#5: You Are Enrolled in a Full Time, 24-7 School Called Life

In that school, you will learn every step of the way.  It never ends!  Life is a mountain, and everything that happens to us, be it bad or good is just another step.  Sometimes we fall all the way to the bottom and sometimes we reach a peak only to find that there’s another mountain to climb.  Every step helps us get to our summit – every step is as significant and important as the last.  The teaching never ends and neither do the lessons that come along with it.  It’s only when we are able to finally stop fighting the journey we are on that we are truly able to enjoy it!

#6: There is ‘No Better Than’ HERE

When your ‘there’ has become ‘here’, you will simply obtain another ‘there’ that will, again, look better than ‘here’. The point is – we always think that the grass is greener on the other side, but the truth of the matter is that the grass is greener where we water it and the only place we can water is where we are NOW.  The best water is gratitude!  So be grateful for what you have ALWAYS, because there is someone right now that wants what you have and there will always be a THERE that is better than your HERE.  Remember – gratitude brings you more things to be grateful for.  Green grass will grow more!

#7: What You Make of Life is Up to You

You can hate the life you’re in and complain and groan about your circumstances, OR you can use your circumstances as stepping stones to get you the life you dream of. The choice is yours.  You are as stuck as you believe you are.  Look for deeper knowledge, ask why you were given these circumstances, who can you help because you’ve been there.  Solve a problem – use the fact that it happened to you to fix it for others.  Life has a strange way of helping us find our purpose.  When you can look at your life with curious specks – you will no longer be a student of it- you’ll master it!

#8: Others are Merely Mirrors of YOU

You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate about yourself.  Take responsibility for triggers in your life. Instead of blaming others for those heightened states of emotion, go inward and heal the wounds that lie dormant.  When we are at peace, nothing will disturb that peace.  Remember the golden rule, ‘do unto others as you would have done to you’! This is the rule book to the game of life.  When you are able to look at others with love and understanding, you’ll be able to look at yourself the same way.

#9: Your Attitude is Everything

I have learned the most from this lesson; when I feel like a failure, I inevitably prove myself to be one.  When I am down and depressed and lonely, it doesn’t matter if I have a million friends shining light, I will still feel in the dark.  Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, in either case, you’ll be right.  You are capable of achieving anything and everything you desire regardless of your circumstance, gene pool, size, financial stability or anything else. If you believe it, you can achieve it, but that belief also works in reverse.  It’s all about your attitude!

#10 All Answers Lie Inside You, all You Need to do is Look, Listen & Trust


You are your own greatest teacher, cheerleader, coach, therapist, counselor and friend.  Know that you are never alone as long as you can close your eyes and connect to self!  Everything you need, you are – you are your light, your answer, your peace, your everything.  The less you need from anyone or anything outside of you, the more connected you become to yourself!

My Favorite Mindful technique is to Shifting Thought Patterns by focusing on the Grounding Technique. Starts with a big belly breath in. Then, you tap into your 5 senses, to quickly and effortlessly shift your current focus. Choose a sense- any sense, and count down from 5 (order or senses can be altered): 5 things you see, 4 things you smell, 3 things you feel, 2 things you hear, 1 thing you taste.

A Fun Fact:

 I travel to Florida from Wisconsin 3-4 times a year, and we plan to relocate somewhere with the state in 1.5 years. I’ve been dreaming about this since I first saw the ocean at the age of 14 years old.
